IES Marqués de Casariego - Tapia (SPAIN)
The school was founded in 1867. Most learners (308) study compulsory and post-compulsory secondary education in order to prepare for university. However, we also have a "Ciclo de Grado Medio de Cocina" that includes 28 students from different age groups training to work as chefs in the area of cooking and catering. The staff consists of 52 teachers. Two of the programmed goals of our school for this year are: ▪ To increase the communicative competence in different languages. They study English and French as foreign languages. ▪ To encourage the knowledge, respect and appreciation of the cultural, linguistic, technological and industrial heritage of the region. Our participation in the project will help to achieve these aims and it will improve the following aspects too: - The approach to other educational practices, so that both students and teachers will get to know different methodologies and schools. - The knowledge of the culture of other countries or regions of the E.U. and the spread of ours, in order to promote the preservation and appreciation of the common European heritage as well as our own. - The development of key competences: linguistic competence, interaction with the physical world, learning how to learn and social and citizen competence. We intend to collaborate with an association named “Friends of Tapia de Casariego History”, which was set up by several former students of our school. Furthermore, most teachers have been trained in the use of ITC and their expertise will be of great help to us. The Erasmus team at the school consists of five teachers around their coordinator Luisa Maria Garcia Sanchez. Teachers involved are experts in maths, Latin, Greek, history, religious culture and economy. Directors of study also support the Erasmus team.
