Mark es estadounidense, originario del estado de Connecticut. Llegó a Asturias a comienzos de enero y empezó como auxiliar de conversación de inglés a finales del mes. Está desarrollando clases y actividades sobre temas estadounidenses para diferentes grupos y niveles. En Sama está implicado en las asignaturas de inglés, plástica, matemáticas, y  educación física.

Mark alterna  sus clases en Sama con las que imparte en el instituto de El Entrego. Pasa dos semanas en cada sitio. Durante este tiempo Mark ha compartido con los estudiantes  sus presentaciones sobre American Expressions (expresiones americanas), American Highschool (los institutos en los EEUU), The 1980s (los ochenta) y, más que nada, intenta aportar su perspectiva de la cultura estadounidense al alumnado. En la clase de educación física enseña una variedad de juegos populares en los EEUU como Capture the Flag y Four Square.

En su tiempo libre a Mark le gusta practicar su "asturianu" (con la ayuda inestimable de los profesores de Sama) y pasa todo el tiempo explorando Asturias. Mark describe el Valle de Nalón como un lugar especial, en el que cada “panorama es una pintura,” iluminada por el “amanecer durante su viaje al trabajo.”

Mark is from the United States, specifically the state of Connecticut. He arrived in Asturias at the beginning of January and started as an English assistant at the end of the month. He has developed lessons and activities with American themes for different subjects at theIES. At Sama, he divides his time between English, Art, Mathematics, and Physical Education. At the same time, Mark alternates between his institutes in Sama and El Entrego. He spends two weeks at each site. So far Mark has enjoyed his presentations on American Expressions, American Highschool, The 1980’s, and above all tries to share his perspective on American school and culture with students. InPE class, he teaches a variety of popular games with pupils in the USA like Capture the Flag and Four Square. With his free time, Mark likes to practice his Asturianu (with the help of teachers at Sama) all while exploring Asturias.Mark describes the Nalón Valley as a special place in which each“background is a painting,” complemented by the"sunrise during his morning commute to work."
